Rippon Tor

Clamber over the stones that formed the main tor cairn around the highest outcrop, to the trig point in the middle. From here we see the small but distinctive pillar of rock to the side that is a tor cairn. There are stones embedded around the bottom of it; the remains of a pile of rocks that would have surrounded the pillar, making a striking sacred monument with its natural stone column rising from the centre.
