Vixen Tor, known locally as the Sphinx, is the home of Vixiana, a witch who lives in a cave beneath it attended by piskies and will o’ the wisps who do her bidding. When Vixiana conjures up a mist these ghoulish sprites lure passing travellers to their doom in the black mires below the tor, much to her amusement.
